Post-Doctoral Fellowship

Each year, Monsour Counseling and Psychological Services (MCAPS) trains three full‐time (40 hours/week) post‐doctoral therapists. These positions are 9.5 months in duration (early August through late May). These positions provide a $33,000 stipend, as well as eligibility for medical, dental, life insurance and retirement benefits. Four weeks of leave time is scheduled over winter break. Reimbursement and release time for professional development may also be available, upon approval. The full‐time post‐doctoral experience is structured to meet all requirements for the 1,500 hours of post‐doctoral supervised professional experience (SPE) necessary for licensure in California. Note that it is the post‐doctoral candidate’s responsibility to determine whether this placement will meet the requirements for licensure in other states, as some states require more than 1,500 hours of SPE and may have additional regulations regarding these hours.

Essential Functions:

We are looking for competent clinicians who would like to join a dynamic staff who are passionate about the services they provide to students. Post‐doctoral therapists have general responsibility for the following duties: Providing individual, couple and group counseling (approximately 60 percent of time), daytime crisis intervention, psycho‐educational outreach programs, training/consultation with faculty and staff of the colleges, and other duties as assigned. Post‐doctoral therapists are provided with two hours per week of individual supervision (provided by a licensed senior staff psychologist), two hours per week of group supervision and one hour per week of didactic training in multicultural and clinical issues.
