Come join CMC CARE + CLSA as we bring Vianney Harelly to The Claremont Colleges! Vianney is a Mexican American poet who talks a lot about what it means to be Latinx and the struggles often faced but not talked about in our communities. We hope that through this inner child healing poetry workshop, we can create a community and safe space within the Latinx students at the 5Cs. Dr. Michelle Téllez is an Associate Professor in the department of Mexican American Studies at the University of Arizona. Her public and academic scholarship focuses on transnational community formations, mothering, and gendered migration along the U.S./Mexico border. She has a long history in grassroots organizing projects, digital media and community-based arts and performance. This talk offers an alternative mapping and framing of the U.S./Mexico border through the documentation and analysis of feminist projects in the borderlands.
