We'll have burgers and dogs on our brand new grill (vegan options available!), music and games on the patio, and socializing indoors and outdoors. Meet the OBSA staff in a relaxing atmosphere, learn about how to use the center and our plans for the fall. Bring a friend, free and open to all!

  • Art as Witness: A thesis exhibition by Ziona King, reception at the OBSA Bungalow

    Ziona King is a visual artist working primarily in painting and drawing/illustration. Informed by her Christian faith, her practice explores theological themes of love, joy, and freedom as a means of inspiring transformation and imagination within broader cultural contexts. Drawing from African American genre painting and prophetic Christian art, she centers testimonial and contemplative imagery that create space for reflection, storytelling, and memory. Join us as we view and celebrate her work on display in the OBSA bungalow starting May 5 through May 17.  Hors d'oeuvres and mocktails served!  

  • OBSA Caribbean Film Festival/Centering Blackness Series crossover event: Musings on Afro-Caribbean histories and cultures

    Join OBSA and IDAS for our third conversation in the Centering Blackness series! This is a special crossover event for the OBSA Caribbean Film Festival. Kicking of a weeklong series of pop up events and activities, attendees will receive a FREE copy of Jamaica Kincaid's  An Encyclopedia of Gardening for Colored Children along with free lunch from Hilltop Jamaican restaurant.  Panelists: Randy Pierre, Professor Westenly Alcenat, Professor Sherrard-Johnson along with student co-facilitators.
