Student Resources

The Student Disability Resource Center supports students across The Claremont Colleges by coordinating approved services such as accommodated testing, notetaking support, assistive technology, and related accessibility resources. Students should work with their home campus disability/accessibility services office to request or update accommodations. Once approved, services may be coordinated through SDRC or through designated platforms such as AIM.

Accommodations and Support

Students who need additional accommodations during the semester should contact their home campus disability/accessibility services office as soon as possible. That office can review the request, discuss available support, and work with faculty when clarification is needed. If an instructor has questions about accommodations, the student’s home campus disability/accessibility services office can work directly with the faculty member to clarify approved accommodations and implementation.

Student Responsibilities

  • Send accommodation letters to faculty through the AIM portal.
  • Initiate conversations with faculty about exam accommodations.
  • Schedule SDRC testing appointments at least three business days in advance.
  • Select all pre-approved testing accommodations they intend to use for each individual exam.
  • Include specialized software or assistive technology needs in the comments section when submitting requests through AIM.
  • Schedule exams at the beginning of each semester when possible.
  • Arrive 10 minutes before scheduled testing appointments.
  • Follow all academic integrity and academic misconduct policies.
  • Check in all personal belongings and bring only pre-approved materials into the testing environment.

Testing Procedures

Students approved for testing accommodations can schedule exams through their AIM profile. Exam requests should be submitted as soon as students know they will be taking an exam. SDRC policy requires exam requests to be submitted at least three business days before the scheduled exam date. Students are permitted up to two late requests per semester. Additional late requests may be denied. Late requests require faculty approval and are subject to SDRC availability.

Students should arrive at least 10 minutes before their scheduled exam time and bring a valid photo ID, along with any approved testing materials allowed by faculty. Personal items, including phones, smart watches, Meta glasses, bags, jackets, and other belongings, must be checked in with SDRC staff or the proctor before entering the testing area. Students who arrive more than 30 minutes late will have their exam canceled and will need faculty approval before SDRC can administer the exam, subject to availability.

Students should notify the proctor immediately if they experience a problem during an exam. Students should not attempt to resolve exam issues on their own. Breaks, restroom use, food, beverages, computer use, and other testing needs are handled according to approved accommodations and exam rules.
