The Religious Affiliates oversee their student organizations and provide additional support to the students of The Claremont Colleges.

Rabbi Yossi Matusof

Rabbi Yossi Matusof was born in Palm Springs, California, and raised in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. After receiving his rabbinical ordination in New York, he and his wife, Rochel, moved to Claremont in 2013 to serve the Jewish community at The Claremont Colleges.

Rabbi Yossi is passionate about building meaningful relationships with students and creating a welcoming Jewish community where every student feels at home, regardless of background or level of Jewish experience. Since arriving in Claremont, he has worked alongside student leaders to help thousands of students celebrate Jewish life through Shabbat dinners, holiday programs, learning opportunities, service projects, and one-on-one mentorship.

When walking through campus, you’ll often find Rabbi Yossi doing one of his favorite things: talking with a student over a cup of coffee.

Rochel Matusof

Chabad

Rochel grew up nearby in Upland, California and studied at Beit Chaya Mushka Seminary in Montreal, Canada. She and her husband, Rabbi Yossi Matusof, have been serving the Jewish community at the Claremont Colleges for the past 12 years.

Rochel loves getting to know students, creating a warm and welcoming Jewish community, and helping students build meaningful friendships and Jewish connections throughout their college years. She especially enjoys hosting Shabbat dinners, celebrating Jewish holidays, and being part of students’ lives both on and off campus.

Claremont Christian Fellowship

Hi, I am one of the staff for CCF. I graduated from Pomona in 1997, and this is my 21st year doing this work! Through CCF I love getting to know students on an individual basis (Claremont students are amazing!), building community, and creating an inclusive space for people of all identities and wherever they’re at with faith.

Chris and I live in Claremont with our 11-year-old daughter Audrey and our cat Momo and would love to have you over to our home when it’s safe! Our family enjoys watching musicals, traveling, camping, playing games, and eating good food (especially Asian food!).

Claremont Christian Fellowship

Hi, my name is Chris Harry and I’m one of the staff for CCF. I’m a Pomona alum and have an MA from Fuller Theological Seminary. This is my 17th year(!) of ministry at the Claremont Colleges.

I enjoy playing bass guitar, watching movies, eating good food, exploring new places, and spending time with family and friends.

My wife, Lorraine, and I met at Pomona and love working together with college students. We live with our daughter here in Claremont.

Danny Hsu

First, Love

Danny Hsu has been on staff with The Navigators since 2002. From 2002-2020, Danny and his family (wife and two daughters) served as church planters in Asia while also working in higher education in both teaching and administrative capacities. Danny has a PhD in history from UCLA and is currently engaged in studies at Western Seminary. Danny loves jazz, running, hiking and camping, and hanging out with his dog Banjo.

Jeanine Borland Mann

Dr. Jeanine Borland Mann serves as Interim Executive Director of Claremont Hillel. She brings more than twenty-five years of experience in higher education, nonprofit leadership, and community engagement, having served as a professor, department chair, nonprofit executive, and community leader. Jeanine holds a Doctor of Education in Organizational Change and Leadership and a Master of Public Health. Her experiences as a Peace Corps Volunteer and humanitarian aid worker shaped her lifelong commitment to service, leadership, and building strong communities. An active leader in Jewish communal life, she is passionate about creating a welcoming environment where students can connect, explore their Jewish identities, develop leadership skills, and feel at home at Claremont Hillel.

Samantha Ilan

Hillel

Samantha Ilan (Sami) is a graduate of the University of California, Irvine, where she earned a B.S. in  Psychology with minors in Biological Sciences and Jewish Studies.  Originally from Santa Clarity, Sami deepened her commitment to health and community through clinical and research experiences, including work in sleep and cognition research, as well as direct care at an addiction recovery center.  At UCI, she served in multiple leadership roles on the Hillel board, including President, where she focused on building inclusive, student-led Jewish life.  Now in her second year as Springboard Fellow at Claremont Hillel, Sami is excited to foster meaningful student engagement and help guide others in their personal and Jewish journeys.

Latter-Day Saints Student Association (LDSSA)

I was a senior in high school when I first made a covenant to take Jesus’ name upon me, to always remember Him, and to live according to His teachings. Less than a year later, I began my studies at a small, private liberal arts college far from my home, family, and friends. That experience challenged me, but ultimately led me to deepen my commitments and discipleship.

I’m now a professor at a small, private liberal arts college, and I am grateful for the opportunity to meet each week with young covenant followers of Jesus Christ.

Stephanie Andrews

Latter-Day Saints Student Association (LDSSA)

Stephanie Andrews is delighted to be one of the volunteer leaders of the weekly Latter-day Saint scripture study in the McAlister library. Having lived in various places in the US and Europe, including an eighteen-month stint as a missionary in Hungary in the early 1990s, she now loves living in Claremont. She has worked as an attorney, a full-time mom, and a business owner. At the moment, her other volunteer activities include mediating in the LA County courts, teaching English classes to recent immigrants, and serving on the City of Claremont Human Relations Committee.

Amanda Haslam

Latter-Day Saints Student Association (LDSSA)

I’m honored to be one of the volunteer leaders of the weekly LDS scripture study classes here at the Claremont Colleges, working alongside our exceptional students. As a student at BYU and Harvard, I experienced firsthand how powerfully the intertwined pursuit of academic and spiritual knowledge strengthened both my faith and intellect, and I’m grateful to help foster that same process for undergraduates and graduate students today. I’m the founder of Amanda Wirtz Consulting, a Claremont-based firm where I help students navigate the college admissions process, and I’ve spent my career at the intersection of education, business, and public policy. Having lived and worked in cities across the country, I now love calling Claremont home. I hold a B.S. in Sociology from Brigham Young University and an Ed.M. from the Harvard Graduate School of Education, and I’m currently pursuing an MBA at UC Irvine’s Merage School of Business. At the moment, my other volunteer activities include serving on various committees  supporting Chaparral Elementary School, where I’ve served as both President and Secretary of the Parent/Faculty Association, and serve as a teacher providing weekly sermons at church.

5CIV

Hi! I’m the Ministry Team Lead for 5CIV. This is my 5th year at the Claremont Colleges with InterVarsity. I love meeting students on campus, journeying alongside them as they figure out questions of faith, and inviting them to be lifelong disciples of Jesus.

Aside from ministry, I love music and all types of games — board games, card games, video games, and sports.
