The Claremont Colleges Interim Policy on Title IX Sexual Harassment, Other Sex-Based Misconduct, and Retaliation was implemented on March 28, 2025. The Policy has been adopted by all 7Cs for addressing complaints between students involving Title IX Sexual Harassment, and other-sex based misconduct prohibited by state law. Prohibited Conduct under the TCC Policy includes: sexual harassment, sexual assault, sexual battery, dating violence, domestic violence, and sexual exploitation between students. Some campuses have also adopted this Policy to address prohibited conduct involving faculty and staff.

All matters reported on or after March 28, 2025 will be addressed using the procedures in the March 28, 2025 policy. For conduct that was alleged to have occurred prior to March 28, 2025, the definitions of prohibited conduct in effect at the time will be used.

Regardless of which policy applies, we strongly encourage you to reach out to your campus Title IX Coordinator to report your concern and to learn more about your rights and options.

What is Title IX?

Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 protects individuals from discrimination based on sex in education programs or activities that receive federal financial assistance. Title IX states:

No person in the United States shall, on the basis of sex, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any education program or activity receiving Federal financial assistance.

Title IX and Other-Sex Based Misconduct at The Claremont Colleges

Simply put, as a member of the Claremont Colleges, whether a student, faculty, or staff, you have the right to live, learn, and work in an environment free of sex discrimination and harassment, including sexual harassment, sexual assault, dating and domestic violence, stalking, and retaliation. Title IX and California law protects us all – regardless of sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, race, and citizenship status.

Individuals who feel they have been discriminated against and/or harassed on the basis of sex have several reporting options, including filing a formal complaint with their respective college’s Title IX Office.

Each TCC college has a designated Title IX Coordinator responsible for the implementation of and compliance with the TCC Policy. The TCC college Title IX Coordinator is available to provide information regarding an individual’s rights and options under the applicable policies. You may also contact the Assistant Vice President, and TCC Title IX Administrator, Barbara Reguengo, at TitleIXAdmin@claremont.edu with any questions related to TCC policies and procedures that address prohibited conduct under Title IX and California state law.

Note: Filing a formal complaint is not required to access supportive measures, resources, and information. Speaking with your Title IX Coordinator does not constitute a formal complaint and does not automatically initiate the formal grievance process.

Please connect with your Title IX Coordinator below for more information:
